Voices of the Dark

Voices of the Dark

Let me be honest with you, I am not entirely sure what my end game is with Voices of the Dark. So let me tell you a little bit about how this project came about. It is March 2026 right now and Donald Trump is President of the United States. His name has been proven to be very prevalent in the Epstein files. For many survivors of sexual assault the prevalence of the files being in the news constantly has been triggering. Personally, I did not think that it would be triggering for me despite my own experience with sexual assault. And it wasn't until I opened a link and read one file. Just one. I am not going to get into what was presented in the file because it was so disturbing I had an immediate and uncontrollable reaction. I was inconsolable. I have not opened any more links to the Epstein files. I don't need to. I believe victims. I believe survivors. I believe these women and men who have told their stories over and over and over again to no avail. But maybe I can do something. Maybe I can share my story. Maybe I can share other's stories (we shall see about this). Maybe I can help people understand that justice is so rarely served in sexual assault cases. And now, here I am. I will tell you my personal story of sexual assault, the justice system we have in this country, and I will share ideas on what we can all do to support survivors and change the system and patriarchal ideas that surround sexual assault.

Take care of yourself

What I discuss here can and will be triggering for many people especially survivors of sexual violence. First and foremost, I want you to take care of yourself. YOU MATTER. And your mental health is important. If what you are reading is triggering you, please take a moment, take an hour, take a day, take a month. Breathe. Do not overwhelm yourself. We all need to walk away sometimes and take a break. This does not make you weak, it makes you human. A human who probably has gone through hell, but you have survived and you continue to survive each and every day. So I urge you to take care of yourself. Listen to your gut and if it's telling you to walk away for a moment, walk away. You can always come back when you are in a better headspace.
